Ooh and speaking of photographs...
I got a 1985 Pentax K1000, a totally manual everything SLR camera, from ebay last week and tried it out on my graphic design project, after the utter failure of the disposable cameras I attempted to use a few days before. Dunno if my point-and-shoot would have done better, since it has a habit of underexposing every indoor shot I take.
Very pleased with the results, for the most part. Even though I have to manually set the aperture, shutter speed, and focus, at least it tells me what the light level is, LOL. Focusing needs more work on my part and the manual film-winding took me for a loop since I was worried that it wasn't advancing. Lost some exposures that way but whatever. Playing with the tripod, external flash and the 135mm zoom lens was fun though. The shots that I had put on CD were from my project, closeups of random things in the lab that form letters, so they aren't very artistic. I won't bother uploading them now...unless, of course, I get some requests. :P
And yay for snazzy new tripod (that I also got from ebay) that has some OOMPH to it. Old one I found at home was so light it would jitter around.
It seems that I've picked up yet another expensive hobby. But, an SLR camera body, 3 lenses (normal, zoom, wide angle), an external flash, a tripod, and a camera bag for $170 isn't tooooo bad....
