Right. Well.

In slightly, um, happier news, UCMAP had a kick-a-thon today, to raise money. It was fun. I didn't get as many sponsors as I'd hoped, but that's ok. 6400. :D (Steph was smart to cap her donation at $60, because otherwise she'd have paid $640. :P)

Ok. I am cold. Will go take shower now.

Oh yea, and I got to see Wendell get kicked by Master Ahn. He came in 3 hours late and was sitting on the sides, out of uniform and socializing. Master Ahn saw him and kicked in him the arm, smacked the back of his head, and told him to go change. All in fun, of course.

Addition to my Own Blog

*This was originally at the end, but I figured it would make more sense to put it at the beginning: Apologies to everyone else who has to deal with my self-centered babble, I'm basically using this as the easiest way to get in touch with Vicky after she reads my blog just in case she gets worried and stuff.

Yeah, I didn't want to post the full story on my blog because it's so public and people read it.

Basically, I woke up to the sounds of heavy breathing and making out and some conversation along the lines of liking people and turning lesbian and such... I'm trying to forget about it.

I mean, I know that it's really not that big of a deal and I'm probably acting melodramatic and immature, but it was something that really traumatized me, I guess, and I don't mean to use that word as a joke even though I know it's used like that a lot of times.

And I guess I should've gone to your place instead of Alex's but it's like, he KNOWS Grace and Theresa so I felt like it might've been better talking to him about it, and also I figured you might've been busy w/ stage management and everything and that you might've not been there, and I didn't want you to be stuck walking me home late at night 'cause I wasn't sure how long I would spend feeling ... frightened and upset.

But yeah, I just wanted to give you the full story on what that blog entry was about so you didn't have to get frightened and worry about me.

Was surfing earlier

and found a new blog to read: Real Live Preacher. Check out these two gems: The Preacher's Story in 4 Parts and I Have No Title for This. Elf might want to print out that last one for the Earl. They were how I found the blog. Interspersed with the more religiously themed entries are ones about his family and...well, everyday blog stuff. Like his current experience with the South Beach Diet. I also adore the woodcut-style art that goes with each of his entries. Anyway, take a look. He's like another Mad Monk, except Baptist instead of Catholic.

Anyway. I should start working on my renderings.

Went to sparring class today

Am slightly broken on my left side. Got kicked in the hand by someone, which made me worry about my future state of violin-playing ability because I was dealing with shooting pains from my left pinky finger, second joint up to past my wrist. I got hook-kicked just above the elbow by a black belt, which left a visible bump and makes bending it all the way kind of painful, and back kicked on the inside of my thigh by yet another black belt. Then there's the various times I got kicked in the wrists, punched between my neck and my hogu, kicked in the windpipe (for the second Saturday in a row--what is this?!?) and generally squashed by all the higher ranks.

I'm slightly broken in other aspects as well, but that's ok.

Demo team practice was uninteresting other than the slight annoyance of dealing with the various pains on my left side, except for learning how to do halos. I can't do one yet...well, I sort of landed one towards the end of practice, but my right ankle (the one I sprained over the summer) wasn't very happy with me on the landing. And I didn't even extend for the kick.

Spent my afternoon after demo with Roger, eating pho and ice cream. That was a nice distraction from other, less pleasant things.

Should I go to a rave or a taekwondo party on Saturday of Halloween weekend?

10.21.2004

Hehehe...

I received my copy of Egg Story today! And to celebrate...

Potential ninjas in the lab! (And one who didn't make it...)

Dude!

Check out Superman. [Oct 20 entry] Is it time to start drooling yet?

Hi.

So...I don't really have anything I need to get done tomorrow, but I'm going to get it all over with tonight anyway. It's like cleaning. I'm on a roll, so I'll just get it all the fuck done right this minute. It means that I'm going to be running on something like four hours of sleep tomorrow, and I might end up sleeping through part of Booth's class again, depending on whether or not the poem interests me, but hell, the satisfaction of it will all make it worth it.

Work?

'allo? *waves cautiously*

No one seems to be posting here except for "liz" and sugarfiend.

Anyhow.

Does this look interesting?

Or this?

Too much reading

...and not enough time to read. I feel rich and slightly overwhelmed.

I started Electric Girl while waiting for Professor Booth's class to start today, and we're just starting Invisible Man in another class. I've got a stack of books on violin, Go, and various bits of fiction that I thought I wanted to try. I have reading for both Costume Design and Stage Management that I haven't read and need to--soon--and I haven't done any of it. Meh. Shower first, then hop into bed and read until I'm sleepy (which is probably not for a while, given the amount of sugar and caffeine I've ingested today, without really needing to).

*coff* HINT *coff*

Interesting site, that. Anyway. Kind of interested in a few different guys right now (all Asian--no cute smart white boys around. Or of any other race, for that matter) but not really wanting to get involved in a relationship. Doesn't mean I don't flirt heartlessly.

In other news (and this may have just reinforced my desire NOT to get hooked up)--Surfer Boy's dead. Died a few months ago, in August...they just found him in bed one morning, lifeless.

I didn't know him very well, but from what I did know of him, I loved. The worst part of it is learning little things about him that would have made me crush harder, were he still alive...which instead make me sad. Like hearing how he quoted Ulysses in a letter to his friend in South Africa, about the sea calling a man home.

I'll think of him once in a while, if not often, and remember him fondly.

10.16.2004

Hmm.

Looking for something like this. Also as part of a dress would be nice.

Music Video RedAlert!

Check out Gwen Stefani's debut single and video, What You Waiting For. Alice in Wonderland references gone...Japanese punk?

Homeworking for Costume Design

but check this out, if you're a clothing nut like me.

Metropolitan Museum of Art: The Costume Institute

Alas, I like looking and trying things on, but when it comes to buying and wearing...my style leans decidedly to the sporty or to the sloppy artiste.

w00t!

Pomona's on the facebook as of yesterday!

I've already found people from NJ I hadn't heard from since 1997. One of them even remembers me saying, "It should be called..green spring!" (re: a spring green crayon).

This must have been from second grade...

10.11.2004

Unfairness

It took me two days to write a 7 page paper on a 172-page book, and it just took me about five hours to write 8 pages on six lines of poetry. Blargh.

Let's see how long the next one takes me.

*mischievous cackle*

SQUEE

That is all.

Why must some guys be SO DAMN CUTE????

And don't ask me why I'm up so late..

Rest in Peace

10.10.2004

I am sad.

I'm not sure if maybe it's all the caffeine kicking in (I only had half the Red Bull this time; the other half of the can is in my refrigerator, awaiting tomorrow morning) but for some reason, I'm really really excited to write this essay. For once, I feel like I have an overabundance of things to say about the six lines Booth gives us to examine, and I wanna see how it turns out. That said, it's only midnight and I feel like it's much, much later than that.

It helps that the poem is a sexy little ditty that suggests the state of disrobement of its subject. ^_^;;

Perfect Essaying Weather

Not too hot, not too cold. I can sit in my room drinking things taken from the refrigerator without having to put on a sweatshirt and also have the windows open.

If only I weren't so damn sick.

*sigh* One down, two to go, plus a prompt book and a design project.

One Down, Two to go

I think I may have spent the longest time per page on that essay. Blek. but it's the first time where I've said everything I wanted to say (well, almost) and still be perfectly within the page limit--not too much nor too little, when I start playing with the formatting to make it fit. Hopefully it makes sense, and doesn't feel too rough when I read it tomorrow.

The fuck?

My RENT email updates just sent me an alert advertising the new Mark.

Drew Lachey.

The hell are they thinking?!?

10.09.2004

I'm sick. I need a laugh.

http://www.buydehydratedwater.com/faq.htm

Do people actually BUY that?

Addendum: Cousin presented a similar link, which is just as laugh-inducing:

Dihydrogen monoxide...H2O..get it? *chuckles uncomfortably*

..I need to go to bed...

10.08.2004

Another reason for not ever sharing bed(room) with someone else

I've got vague memories at the edge of my consciousness of whimpering in my sleep last night, and then coughing so hard that it woke me up. Several times, in fact. Meh.

Hatebeingsick.

Accomplishment of the Week

And possibly of the semester: Have jumped black belt who threatened to pull down my pants. And didn't get thrown in the process.

w00t! go me!

In other news, not getting sick last semeseter (in my health's general once-a-semester illness schedule) appears to have caught up to me with a vengeance. Trying not to cough too hard because there was an incident this afternoon that involved blood. O.O

10.06.2004

Squirrel!

Just me, mouse, or is Ev notsocute anymore?

Things to watch for

Wolvie might get his own movie, but it's Wong Kar-Wai's 2046 trailer that has me squealing and jumping up and down. Maggie Cheung as film noir femme fatale--of course! Why didn't I think of that? And Chang Chen's brief flicker of an appearance in it took my breath away.

Cindy--let's go see Sky Captain this Friday in SF!

Edit: Just realized why he took my breath away. He looked uncannily like Leslie Cheung. *sigh* But yay for not looking squiffy like in CTHD! (Or, for that matter, in DJ Shadow's "Six Days" vid)

10.04.2004

Stuck

Anyone else seem to have Vanessa Carlton's "White Houses" getting a lot of mental airtime?

10.03.2004

LSATs over!!

Yaaaaaaay! Now it's time for sleepy to throw post-LSATs party, like the one I went to last night. Even though I didn't take the LSATs or the MCATs. I'm such a freeloader...:-D

VolcanoWatch

Just checked the webcam. Site's down. Did it go off?

Edit: Never mind, it's the server. Damn.

Socks on the Radar

So Chris had his sock fairy, I remember Chi-en's award winning AcaDec speech on socks, and now Neil Gaiman's missing socks. And then I came across this quote:
i *distinctly* remember being told in organic chemistry that the reason socks disappeared was that right socks are built out of right-rotated molecules, while left socks are built out of left-rotated molecules; the reason one of the two disappeared, of course, was that only one form of the molecule was soluble in water. which version was soluble differed depending on the synthetic yarn being used. (wool of course not being soluble in water in either molecular form - a good thing, or there would be a lot of naked sheep roaming the English hillsides.)
Am tempted to write a piece now, featuring the sock fairy (who was supposed to be fired because he was the tooth collector, and then the tooth fairy replaced him to great success, so they demoted him to sock fairy instead) whose method of spiriting socks away involves the interdimensional vortex that opens up in the washing machine during the spin cycle. And the little kid who's trying to get his sock back, and so he climbs into the washing machine and ends up in Sockland....

Rudy Rucker, The Sex Sphere

V. odd book. I finished it in an afternoon...two or three hours, I think. Actually, more like two. I spent the first hour or so stuffing my face.

It's my first Rudy Rucker, and there's a lot of suspended disbelief involved....think horrifically bad, cheesy, campy movie that you and your friends rent just to laugh at.

From the back cover:
Meet Babs.

The reason she talks in a heavy Hungarian accent is that the first personality she wolfed down was an Iron Curtain physicist.

The reason she has taken on the shape of what every man wants most is that she needs power.

The reason she needs power is that she wants to go home. To the Fourth Dimension.
Which isn't entirely true of the book, but it was enough to make me pick it up off the "free" shelf at the Friends of the Library Bookstore. (Btw, Cindy, I picked up a copy of Paulsen's Voyage of the Frog that you can have, if you want.) V. odd book, The Sex Sphere. Actually, don't buy it...I'll lend you my copy.

Coming up next: Goodbye Chunky Rice, Batman Black and White, The English Patient.

Foooood

Mrs. Pang's sponge cake came out marvelously fluffy today.

And I don't understand how my hands and wrists aren't sheathed in a layer of fat already. Goodness.
